The Undertaker Confirmed His Opponent For Next Year Wrestlemania !!!!!!
In the months before Wrestlemania 32 in Dallas, John Cena vs. The Undertaker was rumored and believed to be the match of a lifetime. It was a dream matchup before The Undertaker’s Undefeated Streak was conquered by Brock Lesnar.
Unfortunately, John Cena’s shoulder injury kept him mostly off the Wrestlemania card. He appeared for a brief appearance to help The Rock fend off The Wyatt Family. Meanwhile, The Undertaker had his hands full with Shane McMahon inside the Hell in a Cell and he walked out of Dallas with a career Wrestlemania record of 23-1. The question the WWE Universe has had since then is if it was the last time The Undertaker will ever step into a WWE ring.
Ever since The Undertaker walked away victories in Dallas a few months ago, there have been rumors about Undertaker’s match with Shane being the final match of his career. Apparently, The Undertaker was telling his peers after Mania 32 that he was officially done, which has led to a lot of speculation that he may be telling the truth. Shortly after, Undertaker pulled out of WWE’s European tour, and there have been more rumors about Undertaker’s relationship with Vince McMahon breaking down.
However, there is a new development that has people talking about The Undertaker’s future in a much more positive light. A rumor from Ringtalkk is claiming that The Undertaker has been active on social media with an account under his real name and has been adding fire to the speculation about having Cena vs. Undertaker at Wrestlemania 33 in Orlando next year.
Much of this is simply speculation since it’s unconfirmed that The Undertaker would be active on social media only to hype his own future matches. However, Vince McMahon has been adamant in previous reports that he can convince The Undertaker to return to the ring despite what he said a few months ago in Dallas.
It only makes sense that Vince would want to pick up where he left off and bring the WWE Universe a once in a lifetime match between John Cena and The Undertaker. The match was meant to happen this year, so it is plausible for Cena vs. Undertaker to be penciled in for next year in Orlando.
The problem is it is very early to already be making concrete plans for next year’s Wrestlemania when The Undertaker is still being distant from the company, and Mania 32 was roughly three months ago. Cena vs. Undertaker is no doubt a match that sells itself and the entire show as must see. Most of that anticipation is because of the unpredictability of the winner and the potential for it to be The Undertaker’s final match.
If The Undertaker wrestles next year in Orlando, it would officially be his twenty-fifth Wrestlemania match, which would be an epic achievement. Is there anyone more qualified to be The Undertaker’s last opponent and end his career on the highest note than John Cena? That’s not really even a question. The answer is no.
A lot of people would look at this as the perfect scenario for a heel turn for John Cena. Being the man to end Undertaker’s career could easily transition him into one of the biggest heels we’ve ever seen. Not to mention, selling Cena vs. Undertaker as the former’s final match could make Wrestlemania 33 break even the records Wrestlemania 32 set this past year.
WWE is always about doing more and going bigger. No one can tell the future, but John Cena vs. The Undertaker seems like the best chance to accomplish that goal. If The Undertaker is already putting up a fight to get back into the ring, he may only have one more match left in him. If that is the case, it would be a tragedy to not see Cena vs. Undertaker at Wrestlemania.
Obviously, it is going to be some time before we officially learn if Undertaker is back for Wrestlemania 33, or if he will face John Cena. No matter what, the clock is ticking on The Undertaker’s career, and it’s only a matter of time before we have to say goodbye to perhaps the biggest legend of them all. It seems only fair for The Undertaker to go out against a superstar of a generation like John Cena. It’s the perfect ending The Undertaker deserves to have at Wrestlemania.
