John Cena New Plans For Wrestlemania !!!
It finally happened. Roman Reigns won the WWE World Heavyweight championship. His road to stardom took several years, and frustration nearly set in for the WWE Universe. One year ago in Philadelphia, Reigns won the Royal Rumble. After the match, Reigns was heavily booed in the ring with the Rock. It was clear who Vince McMahon wanted to win the strap at WrestleMania, and Reigns wasn’t at fault. He was the wrong man in the wrong place at the wrong time.
The WWE Universe doesn’t like it when officials force a star down their throats. It took place with Batista the year Daniel Bryan was the most popular wrestler in the world. His “Yes” chant took the entire world by storm. Pittsburgh fans at the Royal Rumble wanted him to win, but he didn’t even show up. WWE officials wanted Batista vs. Randy Orton at WrestleMania 30, but the plans changed. Last year, plans changed.
For Roman Reigns, his victory over Sheamus was the best moment of his career. That same Philadelphia crowd was cheering him out of the building, instead of the antithesis of that. After WWE Raw went off the air, Reigns thanked the crowd, and it almost felt like a wake-up call for the WWE champion. His hard work paid off. Now, it’s time for the real test. Who will Roman Reigns face at WrestleMania?
Multiple names consistently get thrown around in the rumor department, but since the Rock is very unlikely to show up at WrestleMania, the next best thing is probably the next option. According to WhatCulture and Dave Meltzer, Roman Reigns’ potential WrestleMania opponent is a man that’s currently away from WWE programming.
“Roman Reigns facing John Cena or Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 32 looks to be what makes the most sense, Dave Meltzer writes in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The Cena match was the plan prior to the Rollins injury, and face or heel, it would be a passing of the torch moment. But right now, Meltzer believes ‘the Lesnar match has the most potential.’“A few other names get mentioned in the report, but these are the outside bets compared to Cena and Brock.”
Another portion of Meltzer’s report indicates that turning Dean Ambrose heel or getting Kevin Owens over enough are potential options. Meltzer even talks about the Undertaker potentially winning the Royal Rumble and facing Roman Reigns for the WWE World Heavyweight championship. Either way, Reigns is getting a high-profile match at the big show and will hopefully get his “WrestleMania Moment.”
The next night, Jonathan Coachman interviewed Roman Reigns on his weekly WWE segment. Wrestlezone.com put together a recap of the chat, and Reigns talked about the WWE championship win with the Coach.
“Reigns says it’s been crazy and he couldn’t predict all of this. He talks about the Royal Rumble in Philadelphia and the reaction to his win, but he turned things around and everything worked out and he got a great reaction.“Coach says Reigns got cheered for spearing Triple H and Vince, but he wants to know if Reigns thought about what he actually did. Reigns says it’s a blur, but he’s just defending himself from whoever enters his ring, and he had enough and did what he had to.”
It took a year, but the WWE finally figured it out. Two nights of proper booking and they finally got their main event star. Roman Reigns wasn’t taken seriously because of the long-winded promos, his “superman” attitude and scripted lines. Reigns isn’t supposed to be WWE’s comedy man. He’s meant to fight and win matches. Like I said, the WWE figured it out.
