Huge Update On The Rock Returns To Wrestlemania
WWE’s upcoming event, WrestleMania 32, is expected to be the biggest wrestling show of all-time in terms of attendance. The show will take place at AT&T Stadium, which is the home of the Dallas Cowboys, and many are predicting that the show will end up having 100,000 fans in attendance, which would be a new attendance record for WWE.
With a show this big, you’d expect that every single person who has ever been affiliated with WWE would be coming out of the woodwork, wanting to be a part of the show. However, as of right now, WWE is having a hard time finding big names from the past who will be able to do the show.
One of those big names is ex-WWE Champion and future WWE Hall of Famer Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who has, over the last year, expressed interest in wrestling at AT&T Stadium next spring, but, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that it’s almost a lock that The Rock won’t be able to wrestle on the show, and now, it’s looking like “The People’s Champ” won’t even be able to appear on the show.
“WWE creative had been told that The Rock is not going to be able to wrestle. Rock is currently wrestling with an insurance issue, as a movie he will be filming next year, was having an issue with insurance coverage if Dwayne Johnson did any pro wrestling before the movie was filmed due to the injury risk. Johnson can and may very well be on the show in some form, probably similar to the past two years, but not in a match situation, unless that issue is worked out.”
Before The Rock’s match with John Cena at WrestleMania 29, the movie studios that The Rock was working with didn’t mind if he wrestled, but in his match with Cena, The Rock ended up getting seriously injured, and the filming of Hercules had to be pushed back until he was able to recover.
Now, it’s being reported that a scheduling conflict will prevent The Rock from even appearing on the show. However, WWE is still trying to work something out with him to where he can appear on the show, as they want him to be there badly.
Following the angle that was shot at this past year’s WrestleMania 31, The Rock was expected to wrestle Triple H at WrestleMania 32. But now, those plans have been scrapped.
After The Rock vs. Triple H match fell through, WWE changed their plan to Triple H vs. Seth Rollins, which now can’t happen due to Rollins blowing out his knee.
When it became known that Brock Lesnar and Undertaker wouldn’t be wrestling each other at WrestleMania 32, some suggested that The Rock would end up taking on Lesnar at the event, and The Rock himself said that he’d be interested in doing a match with Lesnar. But, of course, that match isn’t going to happen. At least not at WrestleMania 32.
The Rock has appeared at WrestleMania every year since his return to WWE in 2011, where he was the host of that year’s WrestleMania 27. He wrestled John Cena at both WrestleMania 28 and 29, and he made a bit of a surprise appearance at both WrestleMania 30 and 31.
