Brock Lesnar Plans For Royal Rumble

The 2016 Royal Rumble is roughly five weeks away, and up until this point, there has been a lot of speculation as to who will end up winning the Rumble match and end up facing the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, which will presumably be Roman Reigns, at WrestleMania 32 next spring.
Some have suggested that John Cena will end up going into WrestleMania to face Reigns in the WWE Championship match. Others have suggested that The Undertaker may be a surprise entrant in the Rumble and win the match, thus earning a spot in the main event of the biggest show of the year in his home state of Texas.
Brock Lesnar has been another name that people have thrown around as the 2016 Royal Rumble winner, and now, according to Cageside Seats, Lesnar is the favorite to win the match and go on to wrestle for the WWE World Title in Dallas.
WWE has been interested in doing a Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar rematch ever since this past year’s WrestleMania because they were forced to change their original plan, which was to have Reigns defeat Lesnar and become the new face of the company.
While WWE may already be looking at Reigns as the new face of the company following his WWE World Title win on Monday’s RAW, they still want him to beat Brock Lesnar, clean, in the middle of the ring because they feel it would really give him some momentum and credibility.
In fact, when Lesnar broke Undertaker’s legendary WrestleMania undefeated streak in 2014, the idea was to have Reigns defeat the man who broke the streak. So, with Lesnar now being the favorite to win the Royal Rumble and with Reigns being the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, it would appear that WWE’s original plan is still in place, and they’re going to execute it a year later than they wanted to.
Lesnar winning the Royal Rumble does make sense, as there doesn’t appear to be a “Brock Lesnar-worthy” opponent in line to take on “The Beast” on WWE’s grandest stage next spring.
Before October’s Hell in a Cell show, most believed that the Undertaker vs. Lesnar three-match rivalry would end at WrestleMania 32. But now, with it being obvious that “The Deadman” and “The Beast” aren’t going to go face-to-face on the show, a lot of people have been wondering who will be the opponent for both men.
Of course, there were rumors that Lesnar was going to take on either The Rock or “Stone Cold” Steve Austin at WrestleMania 32, but Steve Austin has continued to deny that he’ll be wrestling on the show. As of right now, it seems unlikely that The Rock will even be able to appear on the show.
With both The Rock and Steve Austin being out of the WrestleMania picture, and with both Seth Rollins and Randy Orton being out of action due to injury for an extended period of time, Roman Reigns is really the only opponent that makes sense for Lesnar, unless WWE brings someone like Bill Goldberg in.
Brock Lesnar isn’t scheduled to return to WWE television until after the first of the year, but there is some speculation that he’ll make a surprise return to WWE TV this coming Monday, as RAW will be taking place in Minneapolis, Minnesota, which is where Lesnar is billed from, even though he currently resides in Canada.
For now, Lesnar’s next scheduled television appearance isn’t until January 11 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Unless he returns to television earlier than expected, we’ll have to wait until then to get a better idea of who Lesnar will be in the ring with next April.
