Stone Cold Steve Austin Address Rumors Of A WWE In-Ring Return

Beast of the East has come and gone. Now, WWE RAW is tonight, and the news that was rumored to come out tonight got announced just a few moments ago. According to MTV,they revealed during an interview with Stone Cold Steve Austin that the Texas Rattlesnake will don the cover of WWE 2K16. The highly-anticipated video game will come out this fall.
This comes after a Stone Cold Attitude Era-themed mode was rumored months back. Jim Ross commented on doing voiceover work for the video game. Since he’s not a WWE employee anymore, his participation with them had to be a special project.
Once the news broke earlier, the WWE Universe started to speculate about his WWE return. That includes any appearances he might do, plus any in-ring return involved. After the controversial Stone Cold podcast, Austin shot down any rumors of a WrestleMania 32match with Brock Lesnar, let alone anyone else.
Just because of the WWE 2K16 cover announcement, his stance on an in-ring return hasn’t changed. In that same interview with MTV, Stone Cold talked about a WWE return and had the following to say.
“I would put myself on the same level for the wrestling/sports entertainment industry as Jordan – but his appearance didn’t mean he was going to put the uniform on again.
So I would go on record: don’t look forward to me putting on the trunks and knee braces to get back in the ring and stomp a mudhole in somebody and walking it dry. How’s that work for you?”
After strong words by the man himself, is anyone else convinced that he will make a WWE return? Perhaps one day, Austin will wear his patented trunks again, but he doesn’t have to. It’s similar to the WrestleMania 32 role that Shawn Michaels was offered. The former-WWE champion turned it down because he has nothing left to do.
If the perfect scenario was there, along with the perfect amount of money, there’s a small chance Stone Cold Steve Austin will consider a return to the ring. For now, WWE fans will have to enjoy him in a videogame, not wrestling on TV.
As for WWE 2K16, it’s shaping up to be the best WWE video game in history. To add on to the Stone Cold Attitude Era-themed mode, 120 wrestlers are already confirmed for the game. Speculation began immediately upon the game’s announcement, but 2K Sports toldthe public that those 120 wrestlers are all original and not different skins. This will include Finn Balor, Stone Cold, Dean Ambrose, and many more.
