New Titles Matches Add To Road Block !!!!!
There are new rumors going around that two new WWE Roadblock 2016 matches will be added to the card soon. The big pay-per-view, which is fully named Roadblock: End of the Line, arrives on December 18 and will be a Raw-exclusive event. As of this report, there are three matches already announced for the show, but there’s a few more being speculated that make sense based on recent storylines taking place on Monday Night Raw. Here’s a look at the card so far and what could be added to the matches very soon.
According to Sportsrageous, the pay-per-view card consists of two championship bouts and a singles feud so far. In the recent feud, Seth Rollins and Chris Jericho have been at odds, which is also part of the ongoing storyline involving WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens. Jericho and Owens were former “best friends” who seem to have parted ways. Now Jericho and Rollins will battle it out in a singles match. Meanwhile, Owens defends his championship against United States Champion Roman Reigns. In the other title match, Sasha Banks is putting the Raw Women’s Championship on the line against Charlotte in a 30-minute Ironman, or “Iron woman,” match.
Now there are two other matches being rumored by Ringside News. The website indicates that one match that is being discussed involves Sami Zayn taking on Braun Strowman. For weeks on Raw, Strowman has been steamrolling through all competitors in the ring. Zayn has tried to stand up to him, and even had a match against him, only to get squashed and nearly destroyed. Raw General Manager Mick Foley had to come to the ring twice to prevent the decimation, and Zayn ended up getting in Foley’s face over it, saying that he deserved similar opportunities to Foley. With that in mind, Zayn may be granted his match at Roadblock.
Another match that makes a lot of sense involves either Enzo Amore or Big Cass taking on Rusev. In recent episodes of Raw, Enzo became flirtatious with Lana, who is both the on and off-screen wife of Rusev. This past Monday on the show, Lana went so far as to invite Enzo to a hotel room and seduce him. That only went so far, as she eventually called the nervous Enzo a “fool” and then yelled for Rusev to enter the room and teach him a lesson.
Cass has yet to get his one-on-one with Rusev as he was about to on Monday’s Raw but the match never took place. It was more of a set up so he wouldn’t be around when his tag team partner got the beatdown from the Bulgarian Brute in a hotel room. That would seem to point to Big Cass getting the big match at Roadblock: End of the Line on December 18.
It would be hard to imagine the pay-per-view taking place without the New Day’s tag team titles on the line. They’re set to defend them in a Triple Threat match on Raw, but possibly this will set something up for the Roadblock match card as well. There’s still a lot of talk about Sheamus and Cesaro becoming the new champions once New Day has surpassed Demolition’s record for number of days holding the tag titles.
The upcoming Raw exclusive pay-per-view is the final event before January’s big Royal Rumble 2017. Between this event and the Rumble, it should help make the bigger picture for WrestleMania clearer. One thing still is up in the air, and that is who will be fighting for the two major championships from Raw and SmackDown Live at the big pay-per-view in April. Based on what happens with Owens in the title fight against Reigns, it could make a Royal Rumble favorite stronger heading towards the January event in Texas.
