Kurt Angle Wants A Match Against Brock Lesnar !!!!
At Wrestlemania 19, Brock Lesnar defeated Kurt Angle in the main event to become the WWE Undisputed Champion, which was WWE’s top title at the time. The two men had a very good match considering Lesnar’s experience in the ring was less than a year, and Angle was suffering a neck injury during the match.
On a Wrestlemania card that is remembered for Chris Jericho versus Shawn Michaels or having Stone Cold Steve Austin’s retirement match, Angle vs. Lesnar remains a hidden gem of WWE history. It was the catalyst of the rivalry between the two men that spanned the rest of 2003. Lesnar and Angle would both leave WWE in 2004 and 2006 respectively, and their careers have taken completely different paths to the present day.
The rumors about Kurt Angle making a potential return to WWE have been coming for years now. It wasn’t until Bill Goldberg’s WWE return that Angle’s return became much more plausible in 2017, especially if he’s featured for next year’s WWE 2K18 video game. Obviously, The Olympic Hero making his return to WWE would be complex, but stranger things have happened. Angle has some ideas if he’s given the opportunity.
Recently, Angle acknowledged the rumors about a potential return to WWE programming, and he said that Seth Rollins would be the first guy that he’d want to face if something can be worked out between himself, Vince McMahon, and WWE. The door isn’t closed yet for Wrestlemania 33. However, the likelihood of him returning for the grandest stage of them all is doubtful, especially with how complex his return could be.
Angle’s history of substance abuse is well known. In fact, he has been vocal about his sobriety, and it’s been about three years since Kurt used. A lot has happened in three years, especially in the wrestling industry. It’s been reported that Vince McMahon is still quite negative about the idea of doing business with Angle again, but the WWE fans are still clamoring for “The Olympic Hero” much like they were for Bill Goldberg.
After twelve years away from WWE, Goldberg returned to an overwhelmingly positive response and created a lot of buzz after defeating Brock Lesnar at WWE Survivor Series last month. It’s not a stretch to say that Kurt Angle could be enjoying Goldberg’s current success by this time next year. If a deal if reached, and he makes his return to WWE television, Angle may become the next big challenge for Brock Lesnar in 2017.
Kurt Angle recently did a Q&A session over his Facebook page and answered many different questions, but the topic of his WWE return came up again. He was asked if there were one match he’d like to wrestle again if he were given the opportunity to do so, and Angle responded with his match at Wrestlemania 19 with Brock Lesnar. The only difference is he’d prefer to have a healthy neck, but that brings up a very interesting idea.
He mentioned an interest in facing Seth Rollins, but many people would be curious to see Angle vs. Lesnar again after all these years. The former just claimed that he’d like to redo his Wrestlemania match with The Beast Incarnate again if he were given a chance. Sadly, that match is over, and it is already in the record books.
However, another match with Brock Lesnar inside a WWE ring over the next year is something that could happen if the stars are aligned. Kurt Angle’s WWE return would be a huge deal no matter who he faces, but the WWE Universe would be interested in seeing someone familiar challenge Lesnar just as Goldberg has done this year. It’s still a long shot, but we may see Kurt Angle vs. Brock Lesnar one more time in the near future.
