John Cena May Return To Survivor Series As Special Guest Referee !!!!!

Universal champion Brock Lesnar vs. WWE champion Jinder Mahal is officially happening at Survivor Series. It is one of the biggest matches on the card and the WWE is reportedly looking to add more intrigue to it. The latest rumors suggest that the WWE wants a special guest referee for the match and it could be the one and only, John Cena.
As recapped by WWE.comMonday Night Raw general manager Kurt Angle announced this week that Survivor Series will have inter-promotional matches between the two WWE brands’ champions. Mahal already challenged Lesnar to a match last week on SmackDown Live, and it was officially confirmed this past Monday.
Lesnar came out with Paul Heyman later that night and Heyman took lots of shots at Mahal. Heyman tore into Mahal and his accomplishments, saying that the current WWE champion is nowhere near the caliber of past champions like Bruno Sammartino, Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, Ric Flair, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, John Cena, and Brock Lesnar.
Mahal responded to Lesnar and Heyman on SmackDown Live the next day. “The Maharaja” called himself the most powerful man in the WWE and he earned everything he has today. Mahal added that he does not care about the people in attendance because 1.3 billion people in India respect him as the WWE champion.
According to PW Insider (h/t Wrestling Inc.), the WWE is planning to make John Cena the special guest referee for the Brock Lesnar vs. Jinder Mahal match at Survivor Series. Cena is the perfect superstar for the role because the WWE can use his free agent status as an explanation why his stance for the match will be neutral. Cena possibly going after his 17th WWE world title could also come into play.
However, Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer(h/t Still Real To Us) reported that Cena being the special guest referee is not yet set in stone. The WWE is reportedly looking at other superstars or legends who are interested in the role. Meltzer did not mention any names, but Cena remains the favorite to be special guest referee.
Cena is currently on hiatus to film two Hollywood movies. He is a very busy man, but it should be noted that he was previously advertised for Survivor Series before being pulled out a couple of weeks ago. He is scheduled to return at the end of the year during the after Christmas live events for both Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live.
Alfred Konuwa of Forbes believes that if Cena is named the special guest referee at Survivor Series, he will surely be the opponent of Jinder Mahal at WrestleMania 34 next year. Cena vs. Mahal for the WWE Championship has been rumored in the past month. The storyline is going to center around Cena and his conquest to surpass Ric Flair’s record for most world titles in wrestling history.
Nevertheless, these are still just rumors at the moment and nothing has been confirmed. Plans tend to get changed a lot in the WWE and everything could get scrap in a hurry in favor of something better. John Cena is still the biggest draw of the company and it makes sense that he gets involved in one of the biggest shows of the year at Survivor Series.
